It should just pop out, see if it has any wires hooked to it. Might just be unhooked and ready for you to use for whatever you want.

i did it does have wires but when i tried to trace them it looks like it either go's to the trans or the bottom of the engine...

Unhook the switch, put a test light on the hot wire to the switch. Start pullin fuses one at a time till the light goes out, this will tell you what circuit the switch is on. Im guessin the wiring to the switch appears to be factory? If yes, then it should show up on a schematic.

Sport/tow for the trans maybe? Buddy has a 93? That has it.

it is the power/ comfort mode switch...... it changes shift points.    my xj has one of them, not to many left any more that have that option

Comfort, for dd   flip it to power and hammer on it and youll feel the difference, shifts hard and extends rpm, I know with power on and in reverse I barely tap the petal and it rips my 33s loose lol even tho I got a blower on mine its not enough time for boost to kick in  ......its a cool option my brother in law has a xj and wishes he had the option

Depends on what you want. Softer shifts means the transmission clutches are slipping more and wearing more. Comfort is better for light d/d use but if you have bigger tires or like to get on the throttle I suggest Power since it won't let the clutches slip as easy.  I always get my transmissions rebuilt with a shift kit, they shift harder but last a lot longer.

It's the same as quick-shifting a manual trans and riding the clutch for smoother shift transition . . .
