Heres the deal... I quit discount tire in January, had a month or two off then got hired into Knapaheide threw Trillium (temp service). Well yesterday the boss came by and told me and the other 2 new guys they had to lay us off for 2-3 weeks until the new contracts come in since we just finished the last trucks of the last one.

Should I beable to draw unemployment for the few weeks I'm off? would it be taken from Discount or Trillium? Not sure how this works, last time I tried to get it was like 5 years ago when  I worked for a Campground. I was denied because it was seasonal work...

If u quit discount yer not gonna be able to draw off of them.  And as far as gettin it for the new place, there's only one way to find out. loll

I don't think there is much you can do being contract. At least that's been my experience while I am doing contract work.

Idk if I'm contract work... I mean they get contracts and thats when they need help... I'm just working for a temp agency and my paycheck comes from them.   Not a huge deal really... This last paycheck finally got me about out of the hole from taking 2 months off ==roll guess its time to start diggin the hole again... :)

I dont think i can draw from discount tire either but I was talking to a couple people who said I could.. its alot of crap to go threw just to get told no again thats why I am asking ==roll

Most SEASONAL jobs SHOULD offer unemployment,

the seasonal City or County jobs offer it, I always got it from either, I never understood why you couldnt get it from that campground place........unless they signed somthing, stating they do not offer it................but as far as I know.......ALL michigan employers have to offer it.......because YOU pay in for it out of some of your earnings.

You have to work at least 5 months, or 21 weeks before you can be elgible for it.    In your case, if you just started this job.........then you havent worked long enough to draw on it.

When I quit towtrucking I put down I quit, and they wanted proof that the reason for me quitting was the fault of the employer. Well I was laid off at the tree service so I didn't think it was a big deal.

Come to find out, being denied on the reasoning for the tow truck jobs gave me an automatic DQ on unemployment for both jobs. Which is a joke because I made 2,400 for the year with tow trucks and 22,000 at the tree service. They said "Nope, can't draw at all until 3,800 or so dollars income has been established since quitting tow trucking.

Who knows for you. They might deny you, they might accept it. The history goes back for 18 months of your work history . . .

==hmm I might give it a shot... guess it wont hurt. I was told to just tell them I left discount to find better employment since they were  barely paying my gas money out there. I'll check into it.

Never quit a job unless you have another one to go to, just work poorly so theyll get tired of ya and let ya go. You can be fired for substandard work performance and draw unemployment, no problem. When you speak with UIA, dont refer to those other jobs as "temp agencies", call them STAFFING agencies. Might go a bit smoother, but it shouldnt matter. You will be hard-pressed to draw off Discount, and you dont have enough time in the quarter to draw off the staffing agency, but run it and say as little as possible to UIA. The less you say the better off you are. Just go online and apply, if and when you get denied, go in to the UIA office in person and ask for a hearing. When you go to the hearing, plead your case best you can, chances are if you make it sound like you could no longer afford the drive because of hours cut, be prepared to prove it with your paystubs. Its a buncha bs, but you might can get it if you set your mind to it!! ;D

You can't get in trouble for filing....it's worth a shot. They have been awarding $ for everything lately.

You must register for work and have an active resume on the talent bank, and when you apply for UI you have to print off some stuff, one paper has to be taken to the talent bank and be stamped by them. When you apply online, do it somewhere that you can print that stuff. The only people that can tell you if you can get UI are the ones that do the determinations and nobody knows where they are for obvious reasons - folks get pretty mad at them sometimes loll just apply, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Also, if you start working again, when you call Marvin theres a question "Are you back to work full time?" Always say no, that way you can still receive partial payments if you have it coming but if you say yes that shuts it all off and you have to start all over from scratch!!

Being unemployed you got nothing else to really do.  Give it a shot and hope for the best. ;D

.......because YOU pay in for it out of some of your earnings.

Not true in Michigan.....Your employer pays for the unemployment insurance not the employee

you can always quit a job as long as your going to another one...but if u try and draw off the one u quit u have to be prepared for them to call u back to work...they have that option. if they don't want you back then u can draw off them

RIP_K52007

I see I do have all the stuff up and active on the talent bank, always do. So I'm good there. Couldnt get anything done over the weekend. Gotta make a few calls today see if I can figure something out
