Think its about time to get some type of snorkel on the k5.  I know back in the day I've seen fullsize suburbans and pickups with store bought snorkels but can't find em on the net.  I know lots of guys do pvc into the cab.  Not sure I wanna go that route, if I do do I use 4inch?  I have a 355 with a holley 750 and about 400hp.  What do I attach the pvc to the carb with?  Also I drive this rig on the road, so if I put it outside of the cab, what do I use for a filter that rain won't hurt?  Post up some pix if u got em.

just stick the pvc through the firewall of the cab about 3" and use a stock air breather with a stock tube that connected to it and it will fit over the pvc and clamp it. ill see if i got pics. well these were all i could find! lol little dirty but hey it didn't drink water or mud and stayed full throttle all day without skipping a beat!

When I get home I can take some but I just ran two flex tubes to the firewall with a piece of PVC to the inside and then clamped on two marine grade filters(anti backfire).  Got like 150 into the whole setup worth every penny cause there is no water goings through the motor or filter cleaning required.

I took an old oil drain pan n' poked a hole in it.. flipped it n' put it on over the filter element..
covers the whole carb and most of the distributor.. works great.

build a box around the motor then it all stays clean! did that with mine 3ft of water spining like crazy everything stayed dry as if I was driving down the road..  no snorkle needed unless your in water over the hood!

I like the ideas going on here.

if you snorkel it make sure it flows enough for the motor or you will lose a ton of power seen a buddy lose 50hp on a dyno with his air intake.. thats why I covered my motor no airflow issues and motor stays clean and dry...  my box even worked great with the uprights!

That's my concern on the Blazer too.  Right now, I am just going to splash guard the he'll out of it.

I also had a piece of rubber hanging down below the front axle to help with splashing... I pulled my motor and it looked as clean as it did the day it went in and I ran 3 boggs and never washed it! 2 boggs with the other motor and it was just as clean!

thats why i went with the dual inlet...i had it on my jeep the day it was out to owosso and it didn't seem to lack any power.  but there definitely could be restriction issues depending on the way it was set up.  however it did nothing to keep the motor clean like a engine box would, just ensured i was getting good clean air with no water.https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=201767493212602

I picked up a plastic intake setup off a 4.9? L Cadillac at the junk.yard, was cheap and it  seals perfect to.the carb base using the stock wing nut,  even has rubber flex coupler that will.fit a 3 inch maybe 4 inch pvc pipe, I was gonna run.it in the cab on my old bogger but now with the new blazer I don't wanna cut a hole in my nice firewall.. pretty much the same thing nasty is talking bout but built in a budget and only single inlet

MR NASTY

i actually was gonna do mine that way too and have that same piece in the garage...was gonna set it up to run a air box type setup till i built the motor and wasn't sure if it could get enough air.  then i stumbled on this piece and went from there.

Yeah I'm not sure if it will be enough air flow or not but for having next to nothing into it I'm gonna try it and see if it works...lol  but with a 3 inch tube its no different then.any other cold air intake they sell at.the store,  ill.use a good k&n filter and see what happens

well it the same setup they use on the northstar motors too so id be willing to bet it would support 350 to 400hp
