im running a 241 tcase attached to a 350 trans.   yesterday my front driveshaft broke right at that double cardan joint or whatever it is called.  i tossed in another driveshaft i had and ran my truck for the rest of the day.  at the time i was changing it i noticed it was leaking fluid a little bit but i just figured my front seal was going bad.  well i cleaned the front of the case off today and noticed that the case has a crack in it now.  it doesnt look bad tho.  from what i can see it only looks like it is an inch or 2 but i wont know forsure until i get it out of the truck.   my question is  has anyone tried welding a crack on a case like this before?   if worse comes to worse i have a 208 i can put back in the truck but i like the little bit lower  low range the 241 has so i figured i would see if anyone has tried fixing a case like this before

if you plan to weld it tig it dont mig weld it. its a dirty alum so its not going to weld that great. clean the crap out of it and grind a bevel in it before you weld it. also if you use brake cleaner or carb cleaner to clean it make sure it is completely gone before you weld. the cleaner can cause very bad health issues. good luck.

weld it  like crazymays77 said   its like it sucks the oils in  then when you heat it up by welding it, it bubbles or pits

I agree with the jb weld, I did that on mine, Its a real pain trying to weld oil soaked aluminum
