i just got a 347 stroker for free from my boss my truck is a 87 f150 5speed 9" lift. the motor had a blown head gasket so i tore the motor down to the rotating assembly and did a master gasket rebuild and repaint but now i can't get it to fire I've never done timing before so I'm pretty much shooting it in the dark. if there's anyone close to Howell that can come help me it would be great if no one can come out than at least a step by step walkthrough would be great it has a hei msd distributor (GM) ? had me confused but I've heard the motor run the only thing that's different is its in my truck now. help please its taken 4 days for swap and rebuild and 3 days of trying to get it to start  :(

Hey dude, I'm not familiar with a 347 stroker motor, but I'm gna send you a link... https://elibrary.mel.org/validate?url=http%3A%2F%2F0-infotrac.galegroup.com.elibrary.mel.org%3A80%2Fitweb%2Flom_accessmich%3Fdb%3DCHLL
This site has save helped me out lots of times. Start with making sure you have the firing order right and the cylinder numbers right. Then, it'll sound stupid reading this, but some distributor rotors spin backwards... Meaning if you hook up your wires thinking it spins clockwise and it actually spins counter clockwise your to
Ing will be way off. If you got all that right, maybe you got the distributor 180 degrees off or didn't line up your timing chain gears when you put those back on. Hope this helps. I get super frustrated doing stuff sometimes too and I gotta step back and think about what's going on for a minute and cool down. Then it usually hits me like "o sh!t- u moron..." lol. Usually something dumb I over look.
