I have a guy that will trade me a pair or two for my ford exploder. Was wondering if I could even run these things in my 88 k5?

Do I need the 2.5 ton  Tcase? What else do I need?

I think they are face loaders. I haven't seen pics yet

Thanks.

if you cant dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshitt

Chevy Racer

If they are face loaders you need the T-case. But I'm sure there is a way around that.  Someone else will chime in.

TopFist

Front spins backwards, weak shafts (well weaker) 6.17 gears.

TOMAC

Front needs to be flipped. Think the pinions are weak. Ask mudman he had em for years

some of the seals are dang near impossible to find  i took boycee  equipment 2 months to find 6 seal for me    some off the early ones are ball and claw joints on the  front  axel  theres info on the   STEEL SOLIDERS website  but dont let them know yer using them for a mudder or the moderators will ban ya from the site  there uptight about guys cutting up trucks  even tho there were millions of em built over the years  ==wgm

Mine are the current Rockwell (Arvin Meritor axles).  Both my front and rear spin the right direction.
In need of a yank strap?  PM me... I have 'em!

Yea the older gm 2.5 ton axles are hard to get parts for, and the front is a reverse rotation so u need the 2.5 ton gm transfercase from the truck
if you can still see the color, you ain't muddin'
the joy of proving people wrong when they say you cant, will never get old

yea, im just gunna run a 205 on 1 tons, ill keep it simple.

Who has them, great for low profile comp truck cause there face loaders not top, so you dont need 10 of lift..... you dont have to have 2.5 case just turn the front around that all we done... GM 2.5 axles shafts are bigger then rockwells...

ya like almost 2'' shafts, havent broke mine! ive got fine spline axles 6.17 gears. dont impact them and they will be good, sled pull trucks have used these for years. but a good recomendation if your gunna keep them for a wile is get the axles cryoed older metal but worked for the military why not us! do some research lots of info everywhere!
