I got a 93 bonneville, and The little black door unlocker/locker remote on they key is broke. Well I went to a couple junkyards and its illegal for them to keep them, so they throw them away.. Its to the point my car will not start until i take it apart 3 or 4 times, move around the batteries and put it back together "cracked almost in half on back"

Any ways how do i bypass this? Without the batteries in the remote it wont let me start the car.

Keyless entry? Go to a dealer and they will get a new one and get it sync'd to your car. Not cheap though.

without the batteries in the remote it wont let you start the car? NEVER heard of this... do you mean remote start or start with the key in the ignition?

You can only go as far as your truck will take you

ok if you can find a new one with the same fcc number on the back i can program it for you. pretty simple really. but it has to have the same numbers to work.

Ok its the peice you use to unlock the doors/lock and pop the trunk, the batteries are good as it still unlocks the doors, but its cracked. If the batteries move around in there just right from a bump or somthing hitting it it will pop on the security light and if i turn off the car it wont start until i straighten out the batteries, Sometimes it takes 5-6 trys to get it right, and that dangerous when your in a bad neighbor hood and ran into a store to get a pop.

You should be able to call the dealer and tell them you need a new key fob they will ask for the vin and ask for the numbers on the back and you get a new one in the mail. thats what we did for my moms 01 yukon

the only way the key fob would prevent the car from starting is if it had remote start, as you said it does not.

Does the key have the little chip on it?  If so it sounds like the common problem with the passlock system.  It does more harm than good loll when they fail.    google it and you can find how to by pass it or you could order a new key from dealer and pay like $100 bucks.  its pretty easy to bypass the pass lock system, i had to do it on my 92 camaro. All you do is wire in a resistor, I forget what wires off hand tho.

by the way I really think its just a coincidence that you play with battery and try it and it works as it has nothing to do with starting the vehicle.  Passlock is designed to reset after i believe 5 failed attempts.

I think xjs is onto something with the chip on the key, happens alot. Do you have a extra set of keys? maybe try a different ignition key. Really the batterys in your key fob have no control over wether or not your car starts...

heres a link if you decide to go that route...... real easy as I said,   just measure ohms on the chip on the key and go to radio shack and get a resistor that matches those ohms,  cut the ORANGE wire and splice the resistor into the 2 smaller wires in the orange sheething. now you can use a key without the chip. the link basically says what you are explaining is happening, Like I said this is a very common problem and a big screw up that gm did
