Not sure what happened to the other one but heres a new one. This guy did not just stand there in silence, whats your opinion?

Since we all agree'd standing in silence while being questioned did not do any good for the open carry community, how about answering the questions and not consenting to a search or showing ID?

BIG DOG

i think the guy with the gun is a dick head    . i dont see the reason to be an ass  to an officer.  if your carry you know ppl are spooked  of you and someone may call on you..     .    can the cop ask for your id at any time   seeing you (have) ( my law)? ? to have it on you.

The only time you are required to present your ID is if you are pulled over in/on a motor vehicle or if you are suspected of a crime.

I would act the same way to a cop if that was the only reason why he stopped me, just because they have a badge doesn't mean it is ok for them to infringe on our rights, and what they are doing is illegal.

*Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone **** your wife and being proud to raise their kids.*

Hammerlane

see both sides of the argument..
resident - stood his ground, and knew the law.. good for him.
Cop - had request by the public for suspicious activity ( so he said )

resident was legally justified
cop was morally justified.

tuff call.

Over the Edge Sharpening systems, cutlery, shear, scissor sharpening

It's all fun and games till someone gets knocked up.. down or out !
Gone postal.. back in a minute!

yes the oc er is within his rights not to ID

my biggest problem is we need the LEO assosiation on our side. if these asshats keep it up there either will not be
oc or you WILL be required to ID when open carrying. if the cops get behind a law requiring ID for ocers
it will pass. i understand making a statement. theres a time and place for it. there is oc ralleys all over the
state go to one and support the cause.

walking down a busy downtown street just because you can just for the reason of trying to innitiate a
contact with law enforcement is a bad idea. along with every person that drove by probably had a bad
taste int here mouth for oc ers.

i oc. daily. if i was in my yard i would probably tell a cop to piss off. walking down a busy sidewalk?
"sure officer here is my id. by the way you are aware that i am consenting only to cooperate with
you only willingly not because i am required"

there is so many differant ways to handle this without trying to escalate the situation. the only reason
he was there was to create a scene and maybe get in the newspaper. maybe his mommy didnt give him
enough attention when he was a kid. either way. its another black mark for oc ers and the gun public
as well.

fyi..most of the time wear a t shirt and i have it tucked into my wasteband with a light workshirt over unbuttoned
never had a confrontation. if its hot. and im just wearing a T its on my waist for everyone to see.

right on. Yeah I have to say if i was OC'ing and was asked for my ID I would show it, got nothing to hide.

Once again I believe the video was informational, spreading the word of what is legal and isnt. Before this video I did not know you were not required to show your ID, so I guess if the time came I didn't want to show my ID I would know my rights.

I guess if I would have been thinking about it I would have noticed the guy in the video who didn't say anything never showed his ID either.

damn_ford

correct. as long as there is no reasonable suspicion that a crime is being committed or about to be commited there is no requirement to ID to a police officer unless hunting or driving a car. open carrying of a firearm is not a licensed or [permit required activity. if you are conceal carrying you are required to immediatly disclose you
are carrying to an officer though

Kinda reminds me of state certifications to work on vehicles... you get caught working on peoples stuff at home without them its a warning. If you have them and you get caught working on peoples stuff at home its a fine. lol not that its common or anything, just how the law works.

BIG DOG

i  would think you would show id   to prove you own that gun to have the right to O C that gun   . i can conceal anyones gun.  but if you dont have a cpl  . you can only carry your gun   .right.

correct. but a cop cant just walk up and id you to see if your commiting a crime. cant just pull you over to see if you have a drivers license can he? should you id to keep the peace when oc ing ? yes
