I'm sick of getting mud in my carb. Is there anything you guys do to keep the mud out of it without boxing in the engine compartment? Or running a snorkel inside the truck?
i dont have a mud bogging problem, i got it under control

Hammerlane

I took an old drain pan, poked a hole in it for the stem and dropped it over the air cleaner..
works GREAT.

Over the Edge Sharpening systems, cutlery, shear, scissor sharpening

It's all fun and games till someone gets knocked up.. down or out !

i add mudflap from iner fender to frame and add sheet metal to the frame under the motor, did not seal all up, left about 3" gap along the frame  so mud and water can fall out.  and i have a rap on the air fliter.    the best thing to do is go faster though the mud!!!!!  yeahh

BAD APPLE

An outerwears precleaner is a good start and some kind of splash shield around the motor
no rest for the wicked

Yeah, use the stock air cleaner. Added a riser ring that I welded to mine to fit the Edelbrock. Keeps water out and such so I can wade flooded roads up to my headlights with ease.

i actally have that air cleaner on my truck now, and it still gets mud in it, but my truck also has a 4" body lift on it,  and it still get mud/muddy water in my carb,

i would try this method, if you have the stock air filter like toughbowtietruck has.

And I bet you have a direct drive fan. Body gaps= mud blowing up into the engine bay dd fan= mud blowing back at engine. Stock intake= vacuum drawing mud in.

73chevytruck

No I have a clutch fan on my motor. And a edelbrock preformer rpm intake with a 1" carb spacer.I'm going to look into getting a rubber bed mat from work and cut it up and try and seal up the engine compartment a little bit.

ProGrade

I ran a TBI intake hose through the hood and covered the end with a shallow pan.  See pics in this build.  Worked awesome.

Inclose the engine bay best you can. I run a 14" open air cleaner and it stays pretty clean
