How hard is it to rebuild these trans'....2003 gmc denali xl 1500 awd 6.0L....   Im pretty sure its a 4l60e cuz its a 1/2 ton  but haven't gone under there and checked, could it be a 4l80e cuz it's got a 6.0?

Is there anything I should look out for or any tips of this and that...?

I have done th350 and 400's before but never one of these...

I dont have a manual, and prolly wont get one unless it is absolutely necessary.

If any one has a link or a write up this it be great...  I'm feelin lazy and don't feel like searching for once loll   Thanks guys :)

I just had Mark in Potterville do mine. $1125 out the door, he pulled it and oerhauled the 4L60-E in my '00. This is the 2nd trans I have had him do and I would recommend him anywhere. Added a bunch of goodies as well as Dexron VI (although that new your trans might already be VI)

That's how I rebuild mine. ==roll.

Well, that all may be useless to you, but I can offer the list of stuff he added. Things to consider are the beast sunshell, TransGo shift kit, and if you really want to firm up the shifts, a Sonix boost valve. Mine stripped the sunshell, he said the trans looked new inside but since it was out I wanted it loaded with the good stuff. ;D

yea thats a little to expensive since a basic rebuild kit I can get for around $160  loll    but good to know what parts he put in it, thanks :)

Also what all are you doing with your trans?   I don't wanna go to crazy as its a dd but do alot of towing so don't need to make it a racing trans or nuthing just a little stronger.

More than I should. 11,000 miles in, working flawlessly! I did add a temp gauge though to keep an eye on it! The following should be worth about 3,000 words. ++peace

but like I said I'm guna be rebuilding it cuz I can't justify or afford to shell out another $6-800 for labor :)

I paid around $800 for mine me taking out/putting in. But he's a awsome guy to deal with. Gives you a one year warranty. But its up to you. I don't trust myself doing it loll

Yeah I'm sick and tired of transmission swaps. Exhaust bolts, rusted cross member bolts, etc. Screw that.
