Changing the title didn't cost me anything though. So if they wouldn't charge for the update I wouldn't say that is too much of a big deal.

Unless maybe the +/- 20lbs (which is standard weighing accuracy, closest 20lbs) throws you into another plate class.

Never did get a call back from them last week. Was told I'd hear something Tuesday afternoon and stopped in Thursday and had to buy a second temporary plate. Should have gotten a call Thursday or Friday from someone to set up the attachment of the vin plate....that didn't happen either. We'll see what this week brings.

As a consolation prize, the clerk hands me a refund form that I can submit to the state to request a refund of the temporary plate fee's due to the issues on their part. Here's the kicker....he then says " good luck, you know how they like giving money back...it's worth a shot, but probably just a waste of your time filling it out." Gee thanks!

i have never heard of any body getting weighted empty, thay want you load so thay can give you a ticket for being over loaded.  so just go get weighed for the 2500lbs and down for the $75.00.  assembled title.

Oh it happens, trust me! Even weighed a tow truck empty when my old boss got pulled over.

Update: Two temporary plates have now expired at my expense. $30 a pop. It has now been 1 day shy of three months and as I make my forth appearance to again inquire about the plate, they (the branch ) tell me that they need to call the title investigation company because it shows no information being processed. Upon hearing the conversation, I hear her say, " who continues to lose his information?? We've been charging him for temporary plates wrongfully, as he already paid for the permanent plate, how is that fair? "  She then tells me that they need to fax all documents to the title investigation services and begin process again. What kind of crap is this?? She tells me that all she can do is charge me again for a temporary plate and I will hear from "Dave" , who is the same individual I NEVER heard from the previous 2 times. I told her that they need to make the call NOW. I've been here since 9:35 this morning...its now 11:05 am. WTF!?

Went back, got a free temporary plate...still haven't heard from that Dave guy, and probably won't. Going back this week. This needs to end.

reciepts and any other documents.

Update 12/20/12:

Still as of last month, had to purchase...yes purchase, my 4th Temporary plate since june, to use my trailer Turkey day at the mounds. $130 in temp. plates for a $108 permanent plate. Yes I feel violated.

The good news!! A state agent came out today and GAVE ME MY TITLE AND VIN NUMBER!!!! 6 Months later, it looks as though I MAY get my plate this week!! The agent was very nice and she also mentioned that this type of thing is normal and had seen a case recently where a dealership was waiting for multiple titles, the state had already cashed the checks but " mysteriously lost" all paperwork and required them to refile and pay fee's. What a frigin racket!!
