Got a k5, the original mounts were SHOT, the rubber bushings weren't even there. Pretty much just a bolt inside of a box on one side. loll

Im putting in a big block, and I want solid engine mounts, i just have a few questions.

How tall do they need to be?
Where can I find some? $?

I know that my tranny and tcase will also have to be solid mount.
Is there many issues with solid mount?
Incase this matters? Th400 205

if you cant dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshitt

Just FYI

If engine is solid, trans doesn't have to be.

But if the trans is solid, the engine must be.

The engine is what creates the torque. So if it flexes, it all must flex. If it doesn't the rest can still be mounted on rubber. Just can't let the engine torque up rubber mounts without the trans also being on rubber mounts or stuff breaks.

goes in front, and you can put one between the motor/trans. welds to the frame, so it cant move

Jthomas

Oh. Thanks. Pretty cheap also.

id guess you would have to modify the trans tunnel/ firewall to do it tho...

Ok, well I'll just get the motor mounts for now, but are they all the same? And will taller or shorter ones effect anything?

They will affect the angle of your engine, trans and tcase, but usually not enough to mess anything else up, height usually depends on any clearance issues, but I doubt you'll have any in a k5, not like your stuffing it into a geo prizm loll
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

I need both the mounting pads that sat on the frame, and the mounts On the block.
