okay cool guys thanks. how much do either of those normally run for?

and will that allow me to use my stock tcase?

As long as it the same side drop as the axle then all you will probably need is a different driveshaft depending on what size u joing and yoke the new axle has

That's what I thought... Thanks a lot. I'm doing 2.25  16"  Coil-Over Shocks from BigShocks.com that are 40" fully extended.
So I already know that I need to take both of my drive-shafts off and get them extended and balanced.
Mainly or all of Ford's Dana 44's differentials are on the driver side which is what I need anyways so I'm sure It will work.
I am also slightly confused if my rims will fit onto the Dana 44 Disc's or Drum's... Not to sure about that yet. I'm trying to get all my information that I need before November when I have the money to do all of this so It will go over somewhat smoothly lol.
I dont know to much about axles in the first place but all of my buddies have said the same as what you said.

What size tires are u going to be running, if u go much over a 38 inch tire then the d44 probably won't last long

35's for right now... I have to pull out a loan to do the custom lift I want to do. Which will be soon, then ill be able to get a set of rockwells after thats paid off. I just want to get it done as soon as possible. the dana will only be for mock-up pretty much...
My plan was to run the 35's into the ground. By the time that is done then everything will be paid off for new tires and a new set of axles. I cant find a dana 44 at all. Only the housings, splines, and differentials and covers...
I want the damn thing to be complete so I dont have to mess with it. Lol.
What other axle could maybe work?
Maybe take a trip to a local junk yard?

I see you also plan on running coilover's. Are you going to fab your own link kit or buy a universal builder kit? I'm pretty sure there are no pre built kit's available for the obs chevy. Just the leaf spring bracket kit's. If i were you id rethink the 4 link and do a 52" leaf spring up front with the offroad design bracket kit. Just me though. Also the axle you ideally want is a 78-79 hp dana 44 from an f250 or a 78-79 dana 60 hp. You could also do a newer front dana 60 out of a ford. The spring perches are 36" instead of 32" on the older one's but if your linking it then that won't matter anyway. Pm me if you've got any question's i may be able to help you out with as i did this to one of my truck's.
Never ending project's. 97 chevy sas'd 12'' lift lot's of goodies.
