I got pulled over pulling out of perkins bog Oct 6th. All the cops cuz of the kid jumping in the mote. I have a factory made 18ft trailer with the Licence plate in the factory spot with the factory light over it. But he said that is not legal. It must be on the back of the trailer where it can be read easily. An my jeep wasent hanging over the sides at all. So just a heads up to all hauling trailers. An when i left the bently lk rd bog the following weekend. The cops where on shaffer rd. Witch leads to Bently lk rd. They cops where watching for others. I had 2 beers that day an he could smell it. So he gave me a feild sabrity test an failed it cuz i was wet an had 20 lbs of mud on my boots an pants. An freezing cuz it late at nite an cold out. So i could'nt hold my leg in the air an count to his number he told me to. But i passed his breathalizer. An he said fix the plate an let me go.

i'll let them pull me over and i'll have to ask him where they want it cuz. I have it bolted to the fender since where it was before it would get all bent up from it getting hit all the time. so screw them i'll leave it where it is and they can deal with it.

I have mine on the farthest back end of the trailer in the middle but i believe it should of been on driverside back end of the trailer  I m curious where was your mounted on? if it right by the fender on driverside of the trailer then the cop is making it up just to have a reason to pull u over

It was mounted on the drivers fender up an down in its factory spot with its factory light above it. Its a 18ft light duty equipment trailer with fold down ramps. An he said it needed to be mounted on the back where it could be easily read. So now it mounted on the drivers side ramp with no light just so it can be seen . An no way to mount a light now. Cuz i aint gunna mount it down low where it will get crushed or ripped off as i pull in or out  the fields or in an out some tough spots.

Mine has been on the left fender for a long time now. Don't go down the hwy much with it or at night either. So I haven't had any issue yet. It was over the tail light which made it hang to the inside of the trailer so I hit it everytime I loaded the tracker. Now it's not getting bent up but no light by it either

Up and down? Like vertically mounted? Maybe that's why, he couldn't read it cuz it wasn't horizontal
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

mine is at the DS rear corner, right under the taillight.  Its not where the factory put it, but the trailer is older than the current laws...meeting the law = not getting f'ed with...just sayin.

I'll look this up at work. We build trailers and have to keep up on the federal laws pertaining to them. Last I knew there was no set location for the plate so long as it was visible from the behind.

I think it has to be visible day or night (lighted) and horizontal so it can be read.
