I just picked up a 2000 yamaha yz125  yesterday,  yes it is 2 stroke,   well it started on first kick for me when I got it, I stopped at my brothers on my way home to show him my new bike..... it started on first kick there too,  well I finally got home, unloaded it from truck and it fired on second kick, sputtered a little, and died, fired up again on first kick after that, then bogged down and died.... never could get it to start again, I've been trying for the past couple hours loll it pops a little, got it back fire once but still nothing.

things I've done, put fresh fuel in it... I realize now I mixed the wrong gas loll... I used 87 octane instead of the recomended 92..... so that could be a problem?

I pulled the plug and it's soaked in fuel and pretty black and oily... cleaned it up still same thing....

I do know its getting spark cuz it will pop every once in a while.   I don't know much about 2 strokes other than if everything is in check it should fire on first or second kick... idk...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)  thanks guys

not sure if you figured this out yet but heres a little thing i know about 2 strokes

you started it.....probably revved a few times and shut it down

same thing at your buddys house

2 strokes hate that......if youre going to start it you need to ride it....dont just rev it without a load and shut it down......guaranteed to foul the plug.

toss the plug and throw in a new one

just my opinion coming from years of experience
