If your married and buy a car together and the car is in one persons name can the other leagally take it?

Depends on the situation...... are you still together, or seperated...going thru divorce,  blah blah blah,

Nothing has happened yet, just going through some tuff times and want to be ready just in case. I called a lawyer at lunch still waiting for a response.

If it is in your name, transfer the title to a friend or family member and after divorce transfer it back, :-)  my dad did this with all his cars and even the house when he went through his divorce....lmao my mom got nothing but a boot out the door ha ha there was nothing the judge could do about it since he no longer technically owned em

^agree'd. I grew up through 5 divorces. If anything is just in your name, transfer it to a friend/family member (that won't screw you over) asap. You might have to cover the sales tax/transfer fee's for them but after everything is settled you can get your stuff back.

best advice u can get....seems now a days every situation is different so that would be your best route to take...gl
