ok building the Machine.

i want some input from you guys that have done it before

what transfer case should i run with the 2.5 ton axles?

i currently have a 208 with a 465 4 speed

i was thinking about  running two transfers leave the 465 hooked to the 208 and then divorce the transfer case from the 2.5 ton truck and have it connect to the axles

or do you think the 208 will be good?

i plan on boggin this thing not rock crawling well might in the future but not right away for sure

suggestions ?

from what I heard it all depends on the tires your going to run and the motor you got. but with the 4 spd you may be good with the 208

In my truck before I bought my SCS I was running a th350 married to a np205, I got locked 2.5 tons turning 57" r-2's... I just had to get more than 600 horse to do anything major

And I don't see why you couldn't run 2 transfercases, you would have a good reduction and on the 208 you could lock it in 4x4 and run a pto winch up front... I thought about doing it that way lol

I was figuring on running 44 - 50 inch tires

I'm will be running a healthy 355 sbc, and 44 boggers for now, haven't tried the combo out yet, but I had the same motor 44's and one tons with 456 gears and could spin them just fine... So with 617 gears I should be more then happy

I'm not a fan of the 4 speed manual for mud though, I ran one for years first gear is great for pulling, 2nd gear just runs out too quick and third gear was a dog, my truck always did well in short mud pits but anything long and you basically have to pic one gear and go,
Unless your dead set on having a manual trans I would sell it and look for a built th350 or 400, and if you still wanna shift have a full manual value body installed

Without going to an aftermarket tcase most of us run 205s for strength. 208s have a lower gear reduction tho. 1st gear will be ridiculously low with the rocks 6.72 gear ratio. Lots of guys run that manual trans tho theyre tough. Like michigan maniac said in longer holes youll run out of 2nd gear pretty quick with a healthy motor. I run a BBF, c6 manual valve body, 205, and Rocks with cut and scooped 44in firestone tires and the wheel spin is ridiculous i cant get through the gears quick enuff in low lock. Throw the 52 vtreads on and it will still pull 2nd pretty good. 6.72 gears make 44s turn pretty easy. With the 208s lower ratio im sure you will be happy with your setup. Good luck with the build  ++peace

I use to run a 205 because of the strength, then I did more searching about the 208 and as long as you have the support bar on that runs from the bell housing to the case, and make sure the 208 has a good chain in it then your good to go,

I am running a 550-600 Hp BBC. I have a 400 trans with a married 208 and a divorced deuce case. I locked my 208 in low range and only use my deuce case for low and high range.  With my 44 boggers in high range I run out of rpm's quick in the mud or on the dunes.  When I run my 48's or my 18-4/26 tractors I use my low range usually in 2nd and sometimes 3rd if it isn't really gooey.  But I always have a fallback gear if it gets tough. The gear ratio selectability of 2 cases is great, even though you loose some power. And with the deuce case you really help the driveline angles opposed to just a 208, not to mention with twin t-case's you are not relying on the chain in the 208 to spin the front end. but since you have the sm265 trans you don't have the issues of not enough gear in 1st like I have with the 400. I could go on all day Just my 2 cents.

thankzs for the input sounds like a winning combo running the duals , so with my standard 465 tranny and 208 you would recommend running the dual transfer set up ?

I recommend the dual t case setup. Just the drive line angles alone is worth the extra work of setting up the deuceo case.  I can tell in mine that the deuce case robs Some power but I more than made it up with the gearing.
