I blew upy SBC 350 up at tgw in hale and I have a 305 with th350 laying around and was curious if it would be strong enough to turn 35s in my lifted Silverado in, he mud or if I should build up the 305 with my vkrtec heads off my 350 before i put it in the truck? Any ideas let me know.

Mudbuster

just put it in wheel the piss out of it while you rebuild/build your 350.... I wouldn't waste any money on the 305 though. But that's just my ==2cents

I'm with mudbuster, run it, beat the piss out of it while your rebuilding or finding another 350, it's an ok engine I ran one in my truck when I first got it and it turned 36" TSL with a 3.08 gear ratio, it sucked it wasn't working it unless I got a running start and held it first gear and to the floor the while time
if you can still see the color, you ain't muddin'
the joy of proving people wrong when they say you cant, will never get old

Hammerlane

Have a .040 over 305 in the Cheep.. 5:18 gears
takes most everything the motor has to keep runnin', alot of 1st gear time.
you can wheel it, but your 350 will be a better option.

305 isn't a bad motor, if your worried about not being able to spin the tires, go with a lower axle ratio, for 35 inch tires 4.10 gearing is more than enough for a greasy ole 305 to handle.

You didn't mention what gear ratio is in the truck.............but remember you can compensate lower axle gearing for lack of horsepower.

The higher the horse power............the more likely you are to break shitt........and that's a fact.

I've got 3:73 gears in the truck.. idk if its cheaper to rebuild my 350? Or who could make it into a stroker motor even for cheap. Let me know I'm looking for opinions before I sink any money into the truck before T-Day ..

Don't put a use timing chain in anything. Find another stock 350, swap the cam, change the rockers, use the 305 heads on it, better intake,  better carb, and it will surprise you. All can be done pretty cheap.
