Softening tires

anyone know of a way to soften the rubber on some old tires?

 cover a rag with acetone , lay rag on tire......repeat ...eventually you'll have $100 in acetone...and a softer tire

I'll assume you want to do this to a set you want to do smokey burnout's with ??
