Anybody ever experiment with nitromethane fuel in their play boggers? Any info on it would be gratefully appreciated!

Its not cheap. I'm guessing it would blow the heads right off a regular engine. It has its own oxygen molecule, helps it burn up fast and hot. I wanna see it done in the mud! Figure out a way lol.  ++peace

The amount of air required to burn 1 lb (0.45 kg) of gasoline is 14.7 pounds (6.7 kg), but only 1.7 lb (0.77 kg) of air is required for 1 lb of nitromethane. Since an engine's cylinder can only contain a limited amount of air on each stroke, 8.7 times more nitromethane than gasoline can be burned in one stroke. Nitromethane, however, has a lower energy density: Gasoline provides about 42–44 MJ/kg whereas nitromethane provides only 11.3 MJ/kg. This analysis indicates that nitromethane generates about 2.3 times the power of gasoline when combined with a given amount of oxygen

I guess they use it in r/c cars, so might not be too bad.

I know it's possible to run nitromethane in engines, some guys that we mud race with run it in the prostock classes as a nitrous replacement for cheating lol but non of those Gus share much on their secrets but I'm looking Ito running in my play bogger so I just wanted a little bit if info on it

My old mans been running nitro and alky for 20+ years, if your really interested in the stuff I can give ya his info and he could blab your ear off about it.
Raced top fuel funnies, top fuel boats, and a number of alky boats/cars
He current has a 2500+hp drag boat. Had it on 10%-15% nitro

But if your gunna run nitro, your either going to run blown/injected or injected. Alky/nitro is no good on carb, wayyyyy too much head ache for it to never work. Alky doesn't detonate like nitro. Straight up, nitro is hard on a motor if you push it. I was thinking that instead of spraying alky in a water/methanol setup to spraying nitro. Just based off numbers, my engine would detonate sooner than compared spraying pure methanol.

you can run it on carbureted motors they guys we race against it have to run carbs to fit the class rules, they just run a mixture of it in their race fuel, I'm thinking though that I would probably hae to run a special carb and fuel pump like you would with alcohol

Yeah YOU CAN run it, but running it injected is soooo much easier.  No two days on it run the same. And only a few places convert them.

Personally, if I'd ever run nitromethane, I'd only run it on an injected motor.
