with what you have said here. go with 208 tcase. you need more gear. for a stall a good 10" converter.

is this for your boy...or for you to break ?

If it's for the boy .. 208 and a 10"

if it's for you ... spend alittle more.. regear axles to atleast 5.13 ... then you could go with alittle heavyer t-case ..and really get wild with the converter ...lol !!!

So a 208 has a better low ratio Im gonna guess. also stronger or similar the 205 I thought it was gear to gear no chain? Sorry im kinda green to this Ive always used 99+ superduty stuff to play with.

Cast cases
203 is the old chain cast iron beast 2:1 ratio
205 is the old gear to gear cast iron beast <<< strongest IMO 1.94?:1 ratio
If no tag to ID, 203 has a aluminum tail cone, and has a drain plug in the back. 205 will have a 3 bolt PTO cover instead of plug

Aluminum cases
208 is a chain driven aluminum case. 2.62:1 ratio
241 is a chain driven aluminum case, has a smidge bigger bearings than a 208, 2.72:1 ratio.
208 has a 1 pc tail cone, 241 has a 2 piece tail cone

I've given low lock ratios as hi is 1:1.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, that helps a ton!!   Would a 241 be tough enough for my application?? In your opinion.  I had a 241 in my BBC jeep that worked great but was only 430hp & cut 35's not sure what gear ratio had D60 & D80 stk out of a 3500 Cummins.

just one more

you would be surprised at the strength of the 208s and I would imagine the 241s are not far off

I have a 208 in my k5 with Rockwells, just make sure the chain is in good shape and use the torque bar that bolts to the side of the tcase then up to the bell housing

241s are a little stronger. They have extra planter gears and a better lubrication system.

243 is the same as a 241, just the pushbutton model. Has an encoder motor on it to change ranges
