just light the description says, im having an issues with my brake lights. heres what I have done so far to the truck since ive gotten it. ive only had truck about 2 months. both ABS and brake idiot lights are on. and yes I have replaced the fuse.

ive fixed rear wiring for tail lights, dually box lights, turnsignals and backup lights. my right blinker comes on front and rear. left signal only front. back up lights and running lights work also. It also has a 7 prong and 4 flat trailer light hookup (factory) I haven't not used it.

I then proceeded to under the dash, ive replaced the brake pedal switch and found some burned up wiring about 4'' from switch. I went to junkyard and got harness and wired it in. everything works as it should.

I also read somewhere that the speed sensor in the rear axle if faulty would throw the ABS/brake idiot lights. ive replaced it also.

ive also hooked up my el-cheapo harbor freight scanner (the one with the ABS stuff) and it wont read any ABS, but I can clear my friends brake idiot light in his 99 2500 Silverado.

If I leave my brake light switch hooked up my lights will stay on also, I'm going to assume they are the brake lights? But why won't they turn off if the brake pedal isn't depressed.

Ive done everything I can think of and as much as I done want to im about to take the truck to a shop and eat p00 on that. any help would be very much appreciated. thanks.

you either have a short somewhere in the wiring still or the return spring on the brake pedal is worn out... try pulling up on the brake pedal and have someone look to see if brake lights go out..

as far as the abs stuff, the front wheel speed sensors will make them come on also.... if your scanner wont hook up and communicate with computer then either the fuse is blown, (but you checked that) the Body Control Module is shorted out or not grounded or getting power correctly... may need to be replaced all together... not cheap

if you can deal with no abs.... which I personally hate it... dont worry about it and pull the gauge cluster and remove the abs and brake light bulbs if they are bothering you being on...

Take a look at your wiring for the trailer plugs as well, check for corrosion issues on the back side of the plugs and any wire splices that may be in the loop.

the spring is good, ive pressed the pedal down by foot and it comes back up normally, i tried pulling it up farther and it didnt move anymore

ive even taken the switch out of the mount and pressed it using my finger, the lights dont change. and where is the body control module located at?

yea i hate abs too, more of a pain in the ass than anything. wish vehicles didnt have it.
