hey guys i am back after a 7 year vacation and building a trial truck again. using a 87 3/4ton chevy. iam trying to put together a cheap home built full hydro set up. I been doing a lot of research but came here to ask questions rather then pirate, (we all know why). anyways I had a old massy combine out back in the weeds I took the orbital valve off it and the ram. my biggest question is on the ram. its a really weird ram and iv seen a lot of rams but nothing like this. it like screws together on the body and the ram is only 3/4". it uses tre on both sides but I kind of want to build this with just clevis ends. no tre to fail. idk if I can convert it or not. but the ram size is what scares me. should I try to use it since I got the orbital it was used with or should I go out and pick me up a 1.5- 2" ram from farm and fleet or scavage one off some old equipment I have laying around?

my next question is about a pump. iv read guys using the stock pump guys running pcs pumps needing resiovors and all that good stuff. i am  really lost one this one.

ad third im running a corprate 12 bolt axle right now. try to find a60 some day. but can i take the steering arm off find a piece of steel same thickness. not sure what it is yet drill the holes and use that rather then buying a cross over steeringg arm? sure i seen it done on a few posts as i was serching the web. and then for the drag ling i was thinking of getting rid of the tre ad getting some dom tubbing trying to find a threaded clevis end that fits snug to the steering knuckls and going that route. any thoughts on that?

any help input or link directions will be greatly appreicated thanks in advance!

no one has anything?i think I figured out how I want to mount the ram after finding a post from frog on hydro steering. but now im questioning using a single ended ram over a doubled ended one since this is going to be a trail rig and it was mentioned that a single sided ram has more push then pull and works better in straight line mud racing rather having good pull both ways with a double ended cylinder where ill be binding this thing up in trails

Buddys use single rams on their trail jeeps with no issue.  Wish i had more input, im in the process of building my first as well.
