How does everyone feel about Pit Bulls and there bad name.
If you have them lets see em.
How would you feel if they passed a law that says you cant own a pit bull or a pit bull type dog. How would you feel if they told you that you had to put all yours pit bulls to sleep.
i have a pit mix & hes my buddy, cold day in hell before anyone takes him from me...
had three of them staying at my house one year. i feel in love with thoughs dogs. was so sad when we got rid of them. as soon as i move out im gunna get me one.

I think they are how you bring them up. If you bring them up mean that what they will be, If you bring them up to be friendly thats what they will be. I have a Chow and hes my buddy, It will be a cold day in hell before anyone takes him from me.

My dog has been in between, we either think shes Black lab and Rot mix or Black lab and Pit... shes shorter than a lab so i figured rot, and she has a bigger head than a lab... does that sound right?

hell i've got a black lab that is the biggest puss in the world (we adoped him and we THINk he was abused as a puppy).... he'll bark like hes meaner than hell, but wont go outside alone ==roll

heres a funny story, we bought tires last winter at tawas walmart & me & Rex was sitting it the waiting room, a older lady (late 60s)came over & was pettin him & was hugging & kissing him on his head, commenting on how cute he is, then she asked"what kinda dog is he" I said hes a pit/chow mix, she didnt say a word & walked away & looked over her shoulder with a very scared look, ==wtf she was just kissin & huggin same dog, i hadda laugh ==roll

Our Mason is half pit. He is a cross bewteen a pit and French Bull Terrier, Spud dog. He has his moments. He was born in my bathroon and raised by us. He has a nipping problem. Like to bite faces.. Dont let a stranger come into my house unwelcomed or your hit.. Or dont play kissy face with him or your face will be a bleeding.. He has nailed 5 people since he was a pup. Now he is 3 and settling down we thought. I do believe it is the dog and the trainer at times.. I been a dog trainer for 35 yrs and this is the first dog I seen have this ego about him. His mom was a pure Bully so his spunk might come from her. She bite his tummy open at 3 hours old and I had to stick him up and take him from her or she would of ate him. Maybe he thinks everyone kissing him is trying to bite him like his mom did at such a young age.. who knows..
Love a pit and always will. They are a smart dog with a will to love and protect..

I think that the temperment and disposition of the dog relies 100% on their exposure, care, and handling. If the animal isn't given enough food growing up, they are going to be a little protective about their food bowl.. if they're raised around other dogs with aggressive tendencies, chances are, they might be aggressive.. i have known a few really exceptional dogs that are "mean" "dangerous" breeds. I used to be babysat by a Rottweiler at my mom's friends house when i was little, and she was the kindest dog ever. I have a shiloh shepherd (german shepherd) and she's the best dog ive ever had. I have friends with pittbulls, and since they werent raised to be fighters, they dont act like one. I think if you provoke any animal, chances are, they're going to attack, it doesnt matter if they're a pittbull or a chihuahua. If someone were to tell me that I had to euthanize my dog because of what breed it was, i think i'd have to unleash the ugliness of the dog owner on them.. FORGET THE DOG, BEWARE OF OWNER! :)

It is how you raise them......My brother in law has and had pit bulls and his one pit was the biggest baby that you have ever since.....
If you raise them to be mean then that is all they are going to know.......

its not the breed any dog can be nasty are old neighbour and a golden retriever that attacked a kid any dog could have done this but just happens that pits get in to the wrong hands . i have two of them and they are the kids dogs kids are 5-8 the dogs are 3-6 i live in ontario canada already gone through this mess with the ban on pitbulls it is a sh@@y thing buddy of mine didnt register his dsog now he pays a $100 a year for each dog
I kind of went through that fight with my dad I wanted a Rot and he said if I got one he would make sure my neices were never able to go near it. so when me friends Rot got knocked up by his neighbors lab I got one of those pups and he was fine with it because it had lab in it so it couldn't be mean or at least that's the way his mind works. You can ask anyone that knows me and has met my buddy Jake and they'll tell ya he's hyper but very freindly.
what I'm getting to is I believe some of the temperment of the dog is the family history but most of it is the way it's raised I wouldn't mind getting a pit some day when I've got more room.

Personally, I've got no use for them. My g/f was Animal Control for years and 75% of the dogs she had problems with were pits. Now, that said, I don't think ANYONE should have the right to tell me or you what kind of dogs they can or can't own depending on the breed. The biggest problem in this country is that people are convinced they have the right to stick their nose in other people's business and tell them how to run their lives.
we have 2 pit bulls and i'd never give them up for anything! Brigette is almost 14 years and is the biggest freaking lap dog you could ask for. When we brought our daughter home the first night she slept under the crib and has been sleeping with the girl ever since. We had a male that peed on the girl too, i know sounds gross but those dogs never let anything happen to her or my son. it's stupid people that give a good dog breed a bad name. lets put the son's of BI@@@'s down that do that to the breed or any freaking breed!
i have a pit bull....got him at the vets office i used to work at...he had a hard first 2 years by the looks of him...he came into the office weighing 32 lbs full grown....i think he was a fighter or at least fightin for food....he is the BIGGEST baby now he wouldnt hurt a fly...he kisses my 9 month old niece after she crawls all over him he just lays there waggin his tail...i think they can be changed...i did it...why cant anyone else? stomp a foot on the floor and hes runnin.....loll

THE BEST AND I MEAN BEST dog i ever had was a pit he was gentle but didnt care for black ppl my wife says the dog we have now is better but i disagree he would go to his room when i told him he would do anything we said the kids could climb all over him and no problems i dont care what kind of dog you have it isnt raised right it will be mean be it poodle lab chow doberman it dont matter as far as having problems with them for animal control its because they were raised by incompitent ppl who only wanted them to fight or be mean its not the dogs fault its the owner

if you have kids be careful with any dog you do not know the history of. Get to know the dog yourself first. put it in situations the kids would and see how it reacts (touch face,pull tail, etc.). Take a class on training dogs and/or read some books. I see a ton of misinformed or under informed pet owners. People see my dog in the back of the truck or sitting in front of the post office and ask me "won't he jump out or run away? how do you get him to stay there?" I answer " I train them"(duh) I think a lot of dog owners have no idea that if you have to train a dog to do what it is told. Not just hope that you get a "good one" from the litter.

I had a pit for many years, i got him as a puppy at 9 weeks old, his name was Duke. that dog would play with a red stone brick, chewed it to a nub & then act like he lost his best friend lol. up until the day he died he thought he was a lap dog. my 2 boys could fall, step ,pull his ears & tail & that dog wouldnt think twice about moving out of the hallway. if the kids was away he slept on the floor by my bed, but if the kids or guests was here he slept on the floor at their feet. i couldn,t ask for a better dog. & now i have a german rott for the past 8 years & he is the same way. he may lick ya to death tho lol. so i sgree it,s not the breed of the dog, its the stupidity of the owner that teaches it to be mean.

i/we have had a few pitbulls a couple were shop dogs very nice but didnt like black or old people....also i had a dog that was resued from a fighting srounding she was the nicest dig i ever had

so not true pitbulls are one of the best hunting dogs out there they use em in england and germany they have one hell of a nose and the stamina to run birds

i think all breeds of dogs are great. all dogs are great until the wrong onwer screws them up. i have not had a pit bull (yet) but i have a german shepard mix with rot. she is the biggest baby but you come in the door without someone there to hold her you better watch out. otherwise ill stick my hand in her mouth and she will bite playfully and i know she would never bite me. but other wise i have a jack russel and she annoys the heck out of me following me at every corner. but i love them both. its not the animal its you.
I really don't like pit bulls. I don't like alot of the people that own them because they have the dogs to show how tough they are. The dogs just seem to be associated with scum. Sorry pit bull lovers (who are not scum), this is just my observation.

i think its all about how its raised, i can honestly say i'm more imtimidated by a little shizu (sp) than a pitbull, i dont like little yapper dogs they tend to have a temper and this tough ego about them, not to mention i was bit by one when i was younger havent cared for them since, but i honestly think its up to mostly the owner of how the dog acts.
i have a pit mix that was bread for fighting and ended up with the wrong head so the people leddft her to die. she is a grate dog and no one can ever mack me git rid of her, but she dose have a mean strek and you need to Keep that in mind whith some dogs. i wouldnt lever her alone with kids ever or lever her in a rome with a dog she dosent know. but on the same note i had a boxer when i was a kid my sister wouod poke int the eyes and shove stuf up his nose and in his ears all he ever did is wine till some one came to save him
that and the meanes dogs i have ever seen wher blod hounds and coon hounds taht wernt treated right
