sorry, totally forgot about this post. got motor back together in mid august. runs awesome. did some trail riding around bitely/baldwin.   drove great until i stored it for winter in early december. trying to find a job so i can buy a different box for it, rockers, cab corners, front fenders, carpet and paint. id like to find some 1 ton rear springs since it sits a few inches lower in the rear and a 3" body lift kit.  just an on going project.

pics of since i got the motor in it...

picked up a good solid box for this from colorado for a damn good price. needs a small amount of work and a new wood bed. the one thats on it is rotted out. alot of cracked bondo from the previous owner and really nothing solid to work with.  over the summer/fall i plan on picking up and getting deals on cab corners, rockers, inner rockers, floor pan, at least a solid passenger side fender (possible drivers side too), rear drop bumper and hopefully get it all on during winter and be able to paint by spring 2011. might do a 3" body lift if i can get the body solid but definitely doing something with the rear springs/shackles to make it sit level. interior is orange so i was thinking 2 tone orange and white or keep red since everyone knows me for it. will be looking forward to having a almost perfect body and figure i ought to do it soon since parts for 68-72s are getting rare.

before prom....
69 Chevelle, 70 k20, 71 le mans sport

on the way to prom.....
got rear ended by a dodge 3/4 ton cummins. bent my hitch like a pretzel and so it was about a foot off the ground, sheared bumper bolts, bent the last 2ft of my frame all up.   ==censor just glad it wasnt either of the cars. i was sitting still waiting to turn and he was going 35mph not paying attention.

quick fix and off to prom

well, i havent drove it in a month. it started coughing real bad out of the carb. it was like gun shots from about 1/3 throttle on up. found out that my distributor housing cracked and broke just under the intake. have been saving my pennies and bought a mallory. will never buy any pro comp products again. got the mallory in and still had the cough. found out the lobe on the cam for the #8 cylinder exhaust valve was pretty much rounded and the bottom of the lifter was like a bowl. ordered a comp magnum 270h, lifters, and gaskets. hopefully have it runnin good by the end of the weekend. sick of bad luck with this truck but not giving up yet. since my lack of a cherry picker and an engine stand, im doing this while its in the truck and it is a big pain in the ass.  ==censor

had to jack up the front of the motor, unbolt the cross member and move it forward so i could get the oil pan off. slid in some new main bearings and got the cam, timing chain, and harmonic balancer on. maybe firing it tomarrow.  ;D

the motor is holding about 18lbs of pressure at idle when hot and im sick of the junk body thats on it. ive decided that if the motor goes or winter comes (whichever comes first) im going to park it and do body work and put a new motor in it. the body work is going to consist of a new box which i have, a passenger fender, rockers, cab corners, floor pan, cross supports, or a decent cab shell which i can put all my interior and doors in. the motor will be either a high torque sbc or a 396 bbc if i can collect the parts cheap. doing body work first since theres no point in putting a motor in it and having all the new seals leak from sitting.

trucks been stored all winter. within the last few weeks ive picked up a decent pair of front fenders, a drop bumper, a hitch, and a pair of 36" tsl sx's with better tread than 2 of the ones i got on my truck now. gaining ground. parts are sure hard to find for decent prices.
