I think the dnr should start doing other stuff than worry about the deer herd everday.IF they found it in hunting ranch is was probaly transported here.What there going to do is fine the hunters who still hunt because hunting liecses have been down the last couple of years.

hahah ill still bait.... whats the chance of being caught??? i cant believe they do like that ... we pay for the license but you cant hunt the way you want?? next there gonna say something like.. no scopes on guns or no morning or evening hunts....

Ok, the DNR banned baiting deer to prevent the spread of Cronic Wasting Disease (basically mad cow disease) which was discovered in a privately owned herd in Kent county.


This ban is only in the lower peninsula, you can still bait in the U.P. however you must broadcast "scatter" your bait in a minumum 10' x 10' area, limit your bait to 2 gallons at any one hunting site.

I think that "maybe.. just maybe"  the DNR is trying to improve the situation, as they did with the turkeys, wolves, implimenting youth hunts, as they did with over the counter doe tags etc...
I would'nt be so quick to jump on them as government THUGS just out to "Get us"
The DNR recieves their funding from taxes and licensing, so to impliment this type of thing just to "Piss us off" would essentially be shooting themselves in the foot.

Baiting is'nt hunting in my book anyhow.. killing yes.. hunting noo..
the word "Hunt" means to go out and find.. track.. search for...   to assume the mentality of the creature your pursuing..

P.S. you never know who you may run across on a public forum either.. there may be "ethical" hunters that would Increase your chances of getting caught, or anti-hunters looking for an excuse to end hunting all together  DA.

x3, i guess here in kent country theres a 4 day doe season that starts on the 18th and you can shoot 2 does a day and have to take the head to DNR, not too enthused about that since good chance it will ruin youth season

Youth season? How about bow season! I don't know why they made this "early doe firearm" season from Sept 18-22. I think if they wanted to thin out the doe population they should have had this season in January. It makes me angry that people are going to be out blastin does a week before bow season starts.

 i feel the youth hunt is good for the kids  sept cool wheather   to get them out  mine are to little  so mine go with me out over thanksgiving       its cold wet and   just bad    my 2 cents       the bait law   it is what it is

it is kind of nesary, thay are having a hell of a time with CWD out west.
but rely if the dnr would get rid of  them dam fenced in hunting camps stuf like this wouldint hapin
