Just what it says I am looking at doing a 40x4xx14 or 16 pole barn.  I am at the point were It the only way I can put my Degree to any uses. No one is hiring freash auto body techs and no one want to hire a new guy as a helper.  But back to the my question
Best way to build one.  Should I get it piecemeal or go threw a company and get it.  Also wondering what its going to cost me roughly to do?  Not one freaking web site can tell me rought cost all them ask for contact info.
I want to make half of it into a shop and the other have a living area with a 15 foot Bump out on the ground floor and a Deck above that.

Do yourself a favor and go with the 16 foot walls, so if you decide to add a loft later you have headroom. My parents had a 40x60x14 built years ago, divided into 3 bays, with a loft built in the back portion of 2 of the bays. Upstairs is tight, and we are short. If you have a general idea of the layout, let me know, and I can get an estimate for you from work. Do you plan on doing some of the work yourself, or hire it done?
Wheel it like you stole it ,or borrowed it from some dude you really don't like.
Get busy livin',or get busy dyin'.

Call Standale Lumber.  When I built barns years ago the used to sell packages.  Get with a salesman there  I know a 30x40x10 with steel sides and steel roof is about 4-5K just in materials.

I want to do it as cheap as I can so I would do it by myself.

I was thinking about doing it bit by bit but.  I am going to need it done fast if I do it.  Talked to my Sons mom and I can use my truck for collaitral (sp) witch I could care less if Something were to happen And I lost the truck.
I will have to take you up on coming to look at it. Thanks.

Pole Barns are stick built barns. But I am also looking at doing GUYS place out of it as well. That why I am looking for a taller one. as a send floor room for chilling and doing Partys and what not.

No pole barns are a post structure with poles every 8 foot apart. Stick built is built generally outa 2x4s 16" on centers. The barn your talking about will be in the 15 to 17 thousand range depending on the doors and windows.

Make sure to have the holes inspected before you get too happy with building or else the inspector can make you tear it all down to check the holes.  Every county has different building codes for barns too so check on those before you start building anything.
