he was asking about mounting inside a K5 which is an inclosed area, not much air moves thru the passanger compartment which will make it overheat , and if it boils over where is it going? all over the occupants,
it will be fine there is alot of air in there... mine was mounted in the back of my s10 blazer no issues...you can build a shield for it  also to cover your drivers compartment from over spray

I put my Rad in the bed because it was constantly getting plugged with mud. I used 1 1/4 Copper with 45 deg bends, stock rad hose to connect to the motor and the rad. Stock water pump. I also use a suder duty trans cooler and a fan out of a Fusion. The only issue I had was burning up switches to the fan, but once i installed a relay I haven't had an issue. Can run hard on the hottest days without any issues.

I like the copper idea since copper disperses heat  but its  no freakin expensive

anyone run electric water pumps? can u run electric and mechanical water pumps in same system but not at same time obviously.
You can only go as far as your truck will take you

Bryank

i'm definately putting my radiator in the back. My buds that have em don't even need to turn the electric fan on half the time and they run stock pumps and stock 2 core and 3 core radiators.
She said the sound of that truck just turns her on

BAD APPLE

most run them in the back because they run 2 radiators, thats what we do in our trucks, plus the longer the coolent is out of the truck while circulating the better it cools which in turn the longer you can run with out over heating, with two radiators with a built big block i have never had it over 190 degrees temp

How do you run your hoses for 2 radiators?  Lower hose from radiator 1, to upper inlet on radiator 2 ?
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

well you have the two places that the front radiation go on the thermostate housing and the other on the water pump where it normally goes then there are a couple other smaller bungs on the water pump to plumb into

sounds goofy,

I ran lower hose to pump, upper hose went to rad in back and out of there to therm. housing. there is all different ways to run it just depends on what works best for you and your vehicle. Idk about running it on the extra hook ups on water pump they are usually pretty small like 1/2'' or 3/4''  and goes to heater core, I would imagine there would be a massive loss of flow trying to get it thru  that small of a hole to circulate the rear rad. but Idk  jmo :)

The two other spots on the water pump are where the heater hoses run too I believe someone correct me if I'm wrong

yea thats what im talking about, where the heater hoses would go to heater core, Is that how yours is hooked up?  if so do you have any flow problems? just wonderin

I don't think you would have any flow problems, you may have slightly less flow than bigger hoses ( obviously)   in all reality you could run your heater core outside the cab like in the bed to displace more heat, that's if you don't care about having heat in the cab, all a heater core is a small radiator ..

MR NASTY

I would recomend using as much hard pipe and as little rubber hose as possible in a enclosed compartment. And people don't blow radiator hose cause they are new its because they are old and should have been replaced long before. I'm gonna relocate mine to they back of my jeep and with these methods in mind I'm very confident there will be no issues.

how well are you guys keeping cool? trying to decide if i want the radiator in the back of my pick up with a 454. I dont know if i t will stay cool enough. I plan to bog it and do some slow speed crawling. just wondering how often you guys have to sut down becasue its getting too hot.
My truck ran between 200 and 210. idle or full throttle, as long as the fan was on.  without the shroud and fan 15 minutes is all it takes to get hot.  I used 1 1/4 exhaust pipe and a 12" electric fan on an aluminum 4 core radiator and a factory mechanical pump for an sbc.

The smaller hose will slow down the flow but that can be a good thing the longer you can keep the coolant in the radiator the better its gunna keep cool , I even have a small slug in the hose with a hole drilled in the slug to restrict it even more, we run hose full length, we use regular heater hose never had to replace it going on 5 years with it. And I run a big block no problems over heating at all and it gets beat on, I have never had it over 190 degrees running temp
