Is it really worth putting the radiator in the rear of a bogger? I've seen a lot of TGW trucks both ways, some say it helped n some don't. So I'm trying to decide if I should put my new howe rad in the back of my k5 or not!
Looking for info from y'all thanks

it stays safer and cleaner in the back. it also can help cooling by moving it away from the motors heat..  mines in the back and it works good. and I would do it in every mud truck I have from now on!

How can you say its safer?  its not a truck with the back of the cab.  its a blazer. radiator is in the same place as you. and it is coverd not open to the air.

I ment safer for the radiator..  I ran my mine in my old cj5 right behind my head.. if I did it again I would use lexan to shield it..

I would rather have hot coolant spray under the hood not on me or someone in the vehicle

he was asking about mounting inside a K5 which is an inclosed area, not much air moves thru the passanger compartment which will make it overheat , and if it boils over where is it going? all over the occupants,

I went by trial and error lol  ended up just mounting a couple of elec. fans on rad. in back and have never had a over heating issue and never have to shut down.  but as long as your moving you should be alright but going slow or crawling or trails youll probably run hot. fans are easy to install and I just wired mine to toggles and just keep an eye on temp gauge.

I like the fact that you would be adding a couple more gallons to the system,  with that being said is there any loss in pressure in the cooling system?  Do you run a thermostat or run open flow?
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

no loss in pressure in system unless there is a leak,  remember the pressure is not created from the pump it is from the heat,  I run open since most my time running is in summer and Have no need for heat,  I also run a heavy duty pump, probably not necessary  but I figure I'm pushing more fluid and had it laying around.

I used 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 inch exhaust pipe on mine also use stock water pump. use a restricter washer instead of a thermostat, always flowing. also run a Howe radiator with 1 16" fan. Up at Rocks and Valleys it runs about 170-180 degrees on a 45 minute trail.run a seperate trans cooler in front of rad. it runs less than 150 degrees on the 45 minute trail.i also installed a cover over the radiater and get very little mud in the fins.
