No you will have to get a new intake and carb it. Any 5.7 vortec I think some years were better than others. Idk anybody who's put money into the tbis

tbi heads do not flow!! i put a 355 with old carb 2.02 heads in my tbi truck i had to angle the middle intake bolt holes out for the new stile tbi intake but it ran good that truck reved

Pvtspencer101

It has 2.05 heads on it now, and I could port and polish and just replace the intake and put a 4 bar 670 cfm on it, do you think that would make for more hp?

And as far as the chip your prolly right, But hey its 60 bucks, I figured it would be worth asking if anyone has ever done it...

get yourself a TBI spacer, goes under the TBI unit, you'll gain alittle mileage and
hp

And to answer somebody elses question, the SCOTTSDALE  trim package was offered by GM  from 1975-1991-2

So I was thinking when I work up this morning......
Why couldnt I make those brackets work.... the front bracket bolt to the bottom of the frame correct. and If I needed to I could make it a little stronger. But 4 bolts or weld it to the frame would be good right.... ==noob

Sounds like it would be easier and cheaper to do all the stuff you want to do if you just sell this one and buy a mid 80's pickup lol

T.B.I is silly. Thats what ive got on my ramcharger and im switching to a carb setup asap. From what ive read theres not alot you can really do with them. Cause if you build your truck to the nuts you can only get so much fuel without that $2Kish tbi kit. The good thing about chevy is theyre everywhere. I'd buy a mid 90's wrecked/rolled chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 pull the vortec and computer out junk that tbi youve got drop the vortec in your truck and the only reason i say 3/4 ton is so you can snag you a set of 3/4 straight axels (does chevy have straight axle in there 3/4 tons like dodge?). Then part out whats good on the truck and almost break even when scraps high. You can build the p00 outta that old tbi motor and i bet you end up with the same if not less than a stock vortec. It wouldnt matter what side drop the front axle was cause youll have the matching t-case. Dodge 3/4 ton fronts are coil sprung if chevy is too get a 3'' spacer and a 4'' block for the rear. With those 3/4 springs youll already be 2'' or 3'' higher so that gives you all the power you need from your vortec, 5'' to 6'' of lift and your SAS swap for prolly less than $2,000. This is just my opinion though. Everything looks good on the internet lol but my truck still sets in the driveway with 1/2 alxes and a junk TBI system that hasnt run right in fo 'eva. Good luck bud I wish your build the best.

Gm hasn't used a solid axle in years. 1987 was the last year even in the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks

Well to start out, get with "disturban" on if ya wanna stick tbi. He knows all about it and he's done the research. Motors are one of those things that ur gonnaget outta it what ya put into it, there's no cheap way to build big power. Build it on what ur wallet can handle, not what hp u want

As for the sas, after 92 NO chevy truck had a solid front axle unlike ford and dodge. Take the time, find the right ford axle, it'll be worth it in the end, that way there's no swapping tcases or anything. The less ya have to change the easier it makes it all. Yes you could use those brackets and support em with a bar in between, but it wouldn't be as strong as you may like, those brackets were designed to be supported top and side by the frame rail, not just a small section on the top. IMO take the time and make ur own out of heavy steel and it will be a helluva lot stronger and safer. Ya gotta remember ya gotta dd this thing and all the forces that come with it. Braking pulls downwards on those front brackets enough where I've heard some guys ruin their frame horns

yea i have a cousin, who made a set for his bog truck.. and I am thinkin if his held up to his 700 hp  454 big clock bog truck they will be just fine for me so were going to get together tomorrow and talk it over, then i will go get some steel and we will start building.... As far as the axle if I go down to part glore and pick up some axle for 300 bucks my only problem is I dont know how to tell what gear is in that axle..... can anyone help me with this? and as far as my motor i blocked my egr. i am going to get a different air filter set up, put new true dual 3" exhaust with new headers and everything. and put a spacer on my tbi i am hearing rumors of low 300's for HP and I am good with that for now and its wont cost me a whole lot....

Put a mark on the rotor and spin the pinion. Count the turns. 4 turns to 1 would be a 4.10...I think that's right lol
chevv ==dew alll

Pvtspencer101

Yea I wanted to avoid that...lol but i can do it that way, then i can see the stamp case to see if its posi or not
II

BigCountryDRC

i dont knpw a lot of any thing about chevys and what year they did what. HEY! get a dodge and all your problems will be solved. straight axle and all the power you need! lol oh, and theres an easier way to check for posi. just hold it to the floor, maybe turn a few times and check for one mark or two.
