do you have it wired for 110 or 220?

if it will run to pressure up then shuts off..but will not start back up unless pressure is released ...that tells me that your check valve on ur air tube into the tank from comp head is bad...its letting air the wrong way (out of the tank instead of only in)and its dead heading ur pump with air pressur that motor cant work against to restart then blows breaker....

or pressure switch is bad or adjusted wrong  usually on at 90 off at 120  ~ 125

im curious to know the problem too  I have a little pancake compressor thats doing the same thing. It fills up once and it will try to to pump but cant untill I release pressure to below 5 psi.

take the cover off and take belt off...    if it still kicks out its an elec issue.... if it dont its the check valve... man i work on these all day long

my moneys on check valve

xjs3667

im guessing check valve on mine since it turns on when it needs to but just cant pump, so i have to turn it off before it blows the breaker.

has anyone changed a check valve in a compressor? I dont know much about them but im sure i can figure it out lol

good luck  Capt.    let us knw what you find :)

when the tank is full there is more pressure in there then the pump makes at one time... so if chack valve fails all that pressure come back up the tube to the comp head.. and dead heads it...

so if u release pressur out of the tank it no longer has all that pressue on the comp head allowing it to start

should be... only a few of the bigger sears is direct drive.....if u have the one with the duel piston set up then no there is no belt.

u can also undo the air line from pump so it free pumps just to check... dont run it more then  couple min. like that
