For some reason i am noticing a lot more rollovers this year than years past, so just out of curiosity how many of you are running cages? If not running one, any reason for doing so?

After rolling my truck last year my new bogger will have a cage, and race harnesses, you never know what's gonna happen, and when it does it will happen quick, like an idiot I wasnt wearing a seat belt, almost went out the sunroof and would have been crushed, but luckily only my shoulder went out and came back in before the roof hit the ground, so.now its safety first for me  ++peace

To all,
Dont' wear your 4/5/6 point harnesses without a cage/rollbar..
in the event of a rollover you are pinned to the seat.. if the roof collapses you have no where to go..

with a standard 3 point shoulder harness at least you can still lay down.

oh.. and P.S.

if you have a bolt together bar.. this IS NOT a roll bar.. I don't care what it looks like or what grade of bolt you use.. this is a light bar!

I was thinking more along the lines of the behind the cab, chrome type that you see in pickup trucks..
smitty built is a reputable company and if they list it as a "roll bar" I would think that it would be sufficient.

Swampthing

Never understood it.. people will put thousands of dollars in a motor, but won't invest less than a thousand in a cage to protect themselves,or the passengers that are with them.  I build my own cages, nothing is bolted in, its all welded.

If you use bolts, the cage is only as strong as the bolt is.

My cage protects the whole cab completely welded. It ties into my body mounts which are welded to my frame. And uses bolts there.

I like cages...they are cool....and can really help to stiffin up a weak pickup frame , to handle the abuse of big tires, lifts, and tons of abuse

Never heard anyone be against a roll cage.
In need of a yank strap?  PM me... I have 'em!

Bowtie972

In process of installing a full in cab cage right now.. With seats and harnesses..

I would NEVER run 4 point harness without a true full cage again!  I had a roll bar with a T that went toward the front windshield in my Figure 8 car with racing seat and harness.  when i rolled it came down hard on the front driver corner of the roof, crushing it waaay down.  The roof pinned my head right down to my chest, almost bit my tongue off cuz it was stuck between my teeth.  Couldnt get my mouth open to get it out  until  i released the harness. That fancy rear roll bar wont do anything  for ya in the wrong situation.. I would definitely not use those shoulder belts unless theres a real cage in.
