Ive been working on this thing quite a bit lately. Its time for an update! Ive gotten the drivveshafts in. I got a dipstick and tube for the trans. I picked up a B&M ratchet shifter and got that mounted. I got an alternator and a serpentine belt. I got a plug for the outlet on the rad for a heater hose. Filled it with water to find out my intake gaskets leak so now i have to pull it apart again but when i put the intake back on its gunna be a dual plane instead of my single plane. All i need to do now is trans lines, fluids, and a little bit more wiring and this bad lad will be ready to fire!

so I got my intake today. I ended up getting a Holley Contender Dual Plane, and well I was over there Chevyracer hooked me up with an rv cam and a set of lifters. Thanks again Chris!

If they weren't the lifters that we're ran on the cam, you will have to break them in. Put it in park, turn the idle up to 2,000rpm and let it run for 20mins I think it is. Then drop your idle, and your all set!

And if the cam and lifters were used together, then ignore everything I just said. Lol

even if they were ran together hopefully they are marked for intake/exhaust of each piston they were for

They were ran with it and no I didn't mark them. I didn't pull it so I can't control that part. It will be fine. Not like your going to baby it and expect it to last forever. LOL

Fenders are cut. This thing looks sick! Cant figure out why park isnt working on the trans. Its spun forward all the way but rolls like its in neutral. It does it in every position. And some how the tire on the passenger rear sticks out of the wheel well 2 or so inches more than the driver side. Dont know how that could happen either. Same width rim same width tire. Same offset. Axle is centered. Just dont get it. Would having no trans fluid in it keep it from engaging into park?

check and see if your body mounts aren't broke or maybe frame is bent

Body mounts are fine. I dont think the frame is bent? The 35's i had on it were even. The only thing i changed is the tires. Oh well. Im gunna put some 3/4 tons under it. Ill figure it out then im sure lol.

No trans fluid is an issue, but putting it in park is a mechanical lock, so technically you done 'need' it.
never even idle a truck in neutral or park without fluid. The pump is still spinning, then there's no lubircation.

If you have a different trans than what was originally in there (this happened to me, I went from a 700r4 to th400) the linkage rod going from the steering colloum to the trans is a different length. It didn't work at all, it bound through the selection, and if you have a body lift this will also be a problem. Disconect the linkage at the trans, jack up the rear of the truck, and cycle through the gears by hand, if problem still there, then you know you have a trans issue.

Btw. If you do jack up the rear, make sure your not alone so somthing bad doesn't happen and you don't run yourself over.

I have a cable shifter now, but i think i got a trans issue. ive tried cycling all the gears by hand and every gear i put it in i can still push the truck.
