got a few questions for someone who knows more about these engines than I do   what pumps will interchange and   ive seen on youtube a vid about putting a high idle switch hooked too the ecm will doing this effect anything else???

BigFrank

well I talked too one guy     he said ya know they make a 6.5  delete kit its called a 12 valve cummins   dead silence on the phone  then he started laughing at me  then after calming down he went on and on about all the bad things about  6.5s  and  that it would only cost around 3 to 4000.$$ too convert it  soo then I laughed and said  I don't even have that much money into the whole truck and it starts and runs strong soo why the hell would I change out a running engine  just too dump unburnt fuel into the air  dead silence again ok thanks for your time

I know this much on them do not run the plastic cover on the motor. it holds to much heat under it  makes the pump burn up

I know 2 things. They break starter bolts and I've only ever seen one run, which is now sitting with blown head gaskets I believe. ==dunno

try http://www.dieselplace.com/  they were very informative about my 6.2

BigFrank

thanks guys  I haven't had any starter issues  soo far  knock on wood/head iknow these aernt considered a performance engine by any means   biggest question is that  I have 3 inj pumps here and wanted too know if theres any differences in them   and this truck is a f code too the vin and that means theres no egr on it and supposivly 10 to 15 hp more than the engines with a egr  and also the ecms are different   the high idle switch thing would be nice soo I don't have too jab the throttle and the thing gets all jumpy and stuff or at least  would like too change out the drive by wire system too  a pump with the cable too run it   keep in mind being a 94 its the newest truck ive owned lmao

Starter bolts mainly brake if the extra support braket is left off the front of the starter,  not sure on the high idle switch, but why do you need it? Running a pump or winch? Or just for cold starts?  Mainly what I can see is it fooling the computer, shouldn't cause harm

I'm not sure if it was just me but I had terrible service with them.also they have moved to mason right next to spartan speedway.  I've had much better luck with diesel equipment out of potterville. They also won't laugh at you for having a 6.2 or 6.5 and will help you out with your pumps. They usually have pumps ready to go and will set the flow to what you have done to your motor.

does yours have a throttle cable/petal or the electronic?

michigan maniac

I don't remember, I traded the truck for a jeep this winter after I got my new truck,  but I believe it was electronic, I cent recall seeing a throttle cable
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

BigFrank

mine is probably the tps  being out of adjustment  but  judging by the amount of oil coming from the vent thing there in the valve cover its not long for this world soo im not going too bother with it   ;D

J.C.

TPS should be set at 5.0v. At least that's what my 93 with mechanical injection needed.

BigFrank

tps is set properly  and since  I had the dash taken apart too change the heater controller 2 times  I hooked up the a-6 wire too the ecm too the cargo light switch and it worked about doubles the rpm at idle  ive driven a few  trucks with the electric throttle control both gas and diesel this one seems too be jumpy on the pedal ??? don't know why  but on another note the vent thing in the valve cover was stuck  shut making the engine /crankcase not vent   or vent threw the dipstick  put the one from chevyracer's truck and see what happens  ==badh
