What's the best way to get a trailer registered?  I only got bill of sale with it.  Its definitely not a home made trailer, should I go into it saying it is?  Also can't find any vin number on trailer

Any idea how much it weights? Under 2500 pounds all you need is a weight slip.

Tell them it's home made and show up with a weight slip and it takes 5 minutes...done it twice now!

Less information is better..... Tell them you need to plate your trailer and the weight slip is all you have.

Gonna havta take it n get weighed.

CAT scales is the best place. But mills, and scrap yards can as well.

I must have bad luck up there  I tried that and they wanted a police inspection and a bill of sale from where I got the material  laying behind the barn wasent sufficient  lol

Crazymays77

if its over 2500 lbs you will have to get it inspected by the police fill out a slip with what you did to it and any receipts you have for the material. Then they will issue you a vin number for the trailer and then give you a plate. I was told it can take 2-4 months for them to get you a vin number. I will be going thru this once I get the 5th wheel trailer finished.

If it's over 2500# u will have to have it inspected

lilred

Just take the weight slip and the bill of sale, if you get it weighed and it is over 2500 (which I highly doubt) either pull some boards or 4 tires and re-weigh it. Trailers not that long, I'd put it at about 2100 if I was guessing on the heavy side. S10 pulled it like nothing empty.

lilred

If you don't want to chance having to weigh it twice, take the tires off before the first trip, leave the ramps at home.

MR NASTY

Pull half of it off the scale...they don't give a crap what it weighs
