why do you want to go with a 355. are you going bigger cam and higher comp pistons and all that jazz?  or you just going with a .30 bore and pistons and leaving the rest stock?

i would run it tbi for reliablity leave the head's you have with new springs and a valve job. do a 030 over bore to make the 355 get a mild cam something in the idle to 5000 range. roller rocker's will gain you about nothing on a mild build like this roller tipped however will help on valve were. run a edelbrock tbi intake along with a 454 tbi unit(flows 670 cfm) and enlarged bore's in the intake to fit the larger tbi unit and you will have a nice moderate reliable all around motor.

this is just my opinion to what your wanting im shure other people will have other sugestions

well i know pistons dont do to much but was just getting your opinion of what i should use due to the fact of going .030 over and will have to get new ones. i thought maybe down the road doing msd ignition but for now stock is good.

what is the difference between roller rockers and roller tips??and with adding 454 tbi unit would i have to change stuff around?

yes thats the intake i was talking about. roller rocker's have a needel bearring fulcrum were they bolt to the head's and they have a roller tip too were as roller tip are the same as factory but with the addition of a roller on the tip they came on factory 305h.o. and tpi motor's. as far as the 454 tbi unit as far as i know all that is required is to bore out the intake to accept the larger throttle bore's. disturban would be the one to ask he did it on his suburban. for piston's i would find one that would run roughly 9-1 comp witih your head's and if i rember right the tbi head's came in  either 5x or 64cc so i would identify  that befor i decided on pistons but i would go with hypereuctic they would be the best bet for such a mild build. and for cam's im partial to comp but crane and lunatti are also good.

but you HAVE TO GET A CAM THATS COMPUTER COMPATIBLE

or have a custom prom burned with the cam profile in mind but most small street cam's wont affect it to bad mostly idle if it get's to lopey

the pistons you choose have to keep your compression within computer and fuel specs too, there's 3 general catigories of pistons, dome, flat and dish, domed make th emost compression with a given chamber size, but have the least efficent burn, flat tops don't interupt the burn and are great for general use, dish are for droping compression with closed chamber heads, so you can still run pump gas with the older performance heads and the aftermarket heads. when you look up the pistons, you need to know what cc chambers your heads are so you can get a working compression ration ESTIMATE, or goal to go for.

to build an engine you gotta have in mind what you want.. higher performance or closer to stock.. are you flooring it the whole time or just doin the drive around trailn vehicle? If you change anything in the engine you will have to have the computer chipped.. you can build it however you want it just gotta have that chip so the computer knows whats going on and can give you the power your looking for..

OHEARN.2012

well i want suin with some performance but its going to be my daily driver so i want suin thats in them lines

so ya wanna stick with more of a stock engine so you can keep your lower RPM torque..  flat tops will give you more power and the engine doesnt have to work as hard so youll get better gas milage... yet that goes out the window when you play with it!  I wouldnt go any bigger than an RV cam which would give you better torque as well.. look into a "jet" chip for the TBI on ebay..
