Im putting a 460 in my 79 150 short bed. i was told the motor was board .60 over and has a mild cam. im not pulling the heads to check because it runs great.  Im gonna try to put a 2 inch body lift and a 4 or 6 inch suspension lift ( what ever is cheaper) and try to fit 38-40's under it on 15 inch rims. Im looking for advice and parts. If you have something you think I could use and want to sell or trade please let me know. Thanks for lookin.

Just picked up some headers from ridin high.  Im gonna sand blast them and paint them and the rest of the motor this weekend. Now all i need are the motor mounts. if i cant find some used ones this week ill buy the ones from summit.  I hope to be up and running in a week or two.

well the motor is moving along pretty well. now im just picking up stuff as i go. little by little. Now im starting to think about lift and tires. i was thinking 38 to 40s but now im thinking 36s. im just not sure how much lift or how to do it really. springs? Body? Both? or where to buy the stuff.

Can get by with 4 inches and run 36 inch tires. A cheap way to lift those half tons is put a spacer under the coil mount on the axle and drop your spring towers down. Did it on my 78 and it worked good. Good looking fordd

we put the 460 together last night.  I had a buddy come over and help me and he confirmed that the motor is still pretty fresh and not stock at all.  I have to put all the pulleys and stuff on still. but im getting close.

well i cleaned out the garage tonight. im going to pull the truck back in and start doing the body lift. i want to go 3''. i found a kit online for $100. i think thats what im gonna do.  i also found a 6'' lift for $320. but its just the front springs and blocks for the rear. ill pick that up when i get my tax return.

dusty59

today im doing the 3'' body lift. My buddy talked me into using hockey pucks. with all the bolts and pucks it was under $50 so im gonna try it. But i am wondering what is a good web site to buy new off road parts? Im hopeing to get tax return soon and buy my suspension lift and maybe some used tires. ill post pics when im done

Hockey pucks are a bad idea, they get brittle, split and fall out.Just spend the money on a body lift.

My fords never stay solid long enough for the pucks to dry out.....meaning the floorpans rust around the pucks ...LOL !!

I rode in that ford many years ago....back when Kevin painted it over in Dryden , think he sold it to somone in lakeville after that

Good to see it's still on the road, and someon's finally swamping it again .... applaudd

well i did the pucks for now. i have heard good and bad about them but oh well. i think 3'' is to much body lift for me anyways. so im gonna run it like this for a while then upgrade later on.
