Im sick & tired of this too. If the media is going to tell the story, than tell BOTH sides of it.

Media portrays Travon as some innocent 13 year old [ instead of showing his 17 year old picture ] as some little boy walking down the street minding his own business,eating his Skittles. And than shows Zimmermans Mug Shot from 2005.

Than the Lawyers for Travon Martin attempt to have his records sealed so the public dont hear about Martin's disturbing past, which include being kicked out of school for possession of pot, tardiness, and striking a school bus driver.

And Rev Al Sharpton & his side kick, Jesse Jackson, where were you clowns & your public outcry when a 13 year old white guy from Kentucky was doused with gasoline from 3 teenage black youths, who later commented '' thats what you get white boy''? MEDIA WOULDN'T TOUCH THAT ONE!

The media and pubic are already accusing Zimmerman of a crime and want his butt toasted and the guy hasn't even had a trial yet.

Im guessing when ALL the story comes out and this thing hits the courts, there's going to be alot of media folks,eating crow!

Somehow this became a white/black thing?  From Trayvon's mother's mouth, "They've killed my son and they are now killing his reputation."

My response is if you accept responsibility for your sons actions on that day, you will be able to get over it better.  Just as Trayvon did 2 days earlier when he attacked a bus driver, he attacked Zimmerman forcing him to defend himself.  That is what all the evidence will show, because it's the truth.  I kinda of doubt the Martin family will apologize to Zimmerman for their sons felony attack against him that changed his life, but maybe they should.

well i got news for ya...zimmermans past isn't so shiney either...yes the news makes him look bad but cmon....he calls the cops and cries wolf when anyone comes through his self apointed neighborhood watch zone...and if u listen to the 911 calls it clearly makes zimmerman look like an aggressor...i don't care what a kids past is when it comes to vigilantly  justice wrong is wrong...it's shouldn't be a white/black thing is should just be a right or wrong thing...if this happened to any of your sons u would be doing the same so why sit here and say your sick and tired of seeing the story on the news...i am ashamed to be associated with a group that thinks it's ok for someone to kill another based on his skin color...and reading a couple posts that is exactly how u feel...lets pray that nothing like this ever happens to you so your family won't have to sit in judgement by the same people that think like u guys...jmt

I appreciate your point of view as it is the same as my brothers.  We enjoyed a nice healthy debate over it as we watched my nephews baseball game yesterday.  Of course you are right, it is never ok to kill anyone for the color of their skin or any other reason then self defense.  Which is exactly what this was self defense.

There is no evidence that Zimmerman attacked Martin.  I encourage you look at the eye witness testimony that proves Zimmerman was on the ground being beat.

The media put forth an image of this as a young child who got shot, but the truth is he was a drug dealing violent gang banger who was out of control.

Martins call sign on Twitter is @_no_limit-brotha (not exactly you can look up exactly what he calls himself), look at his posts and he was a foul young man.  His friends are shown asking him for "plant" and through gang signs all around.  Zimmerman was following him saying "he looked high." With all the evidence coming forward it was likely he was high.  Especially considering he was on suspension for drugs and two days prior attacked a bus driver.  I realize this still doesn't give anyone the right to shoot him, however Mr. Martin is not what the media has presented.

Most importantly, there is no evidence Zimmerman followed Martin after the 911 call.  And even if he did that doesn't give the right for someone to felony assault you.  People have the right to utilize neighborhood watch to protect their neighborhood.  One might say that Trayvon Martin's of the world are exactly why neighborhood watches are needed.

so he got pulled out of his car and got beat....other than that it is 100% not self defense...he was told not to follow and he did...u can't dispute that...and eye witness accounts...bull ...none of them say the same thing twice and most of them don't even agree on what happened...i am not saying he murdered that kid...i do believe it was a tragic accident...but that being said he does have some responsibility in his death and does deserve to be punished. and neighborhood watches are put in place to call the cops..not take matters in your own hands. and just because the media doesn't focus on the victim does not mean it's not an important story. zimmerman is the reason that people don't have the right to bear arms...u arm one idiot, u have to arm them all. the only fact that matters is a kid is dead and the trigger happy, cry wolf, idiot, self appointed leader of the neighborhood watch leader did it...there is no dispute on that

acording to testimony on his way back to his vehicle when he was assaulted. first sucker punched in the face then
on the ground, getting his head beat off the concrete. then he shot once. if he was looking to hunt someone vigilante style

as treyvon had been staying at his freinds??? there was a reason zimmerman was watching his

Makes a lot of sense there...... he was doing his job, which would involve looking for trouble...... so your basically saying that if a cop pulled some one over and then that guy got out of his car and started beating the cop and the cop shot and killed him the cop should go to jail for murder when it was self defense..... oh but of course in your world the cop would go to jail since he was out "looking for trouble"

Unless you were there and witnessed it then know one really knows what happened that night and everything else is hearsay If it is found that was self defense, then so be it, if it isn't then so be it. Its up to the judicial system now.


I bet this will blow your mind tho, If my son was a gang banger, dope slinging, known to assault people, and he assaulted someone and got shot and killed then thats what he deserved, and If it was me getting assaulted I to would shoot, no matter age race or gender,  when I took my cpl class the first thing that was taught was shoot as a last resort, if you dont think that waiting untill after your head is getting bashed into the concrete isnt the last resort then I sure wouldnt wanna be around you when some starts attacking me I guess you would be that guy that just stands there and says "you shouldnt do that, you might be hurting him, or im guna call the cops, while in the meantime your buddy is over there fighting for his life

I think its upto the court. I wasnt there.. none of us were there. Too many what if's to even put my in. I hope whatever happens that justice is served where its deserved. Could spend all day reading rumors and twisted facts online, isn't going to change what actually happened.

Since friendly and debate are hard to reconcile, maybe we can just agree not to personally attack each other so the big cheese doesn't make this thread go byby.  This current event is an important part of the American fabric, and I think it is good we have a place to discuss it.  I have an opinion, but I also realize that in this case there are a lot of valid points to the opposing opinion.  Martin did think he was being followed, and I doubt I would feel comfortable if someone was following me.  As a vanilla ice cream eating 45 year old edge of the country living suburbanite I might handle it differently then a troubled ghetto living 17 year old kid.  Either side you are on, this is more complicated then right or wrong.  A lot of what happened was situational.  One person is dead and another if facing a life in prison sentence, and maybe worse living as public enemy for the rest of his life.  I don't personally think Zimmerman committed a crime, but his initial perception of Martin was wrong, he was not committing any trouble at the time.  Martin and Zimmerman both acted like the other was this major threat to each other, and the result is a horrible event.

I am glad to have a place to chat with guys about current events, lets not ruin it by making it personal.
