Hello everyone,  i am a new member of the club.  ==noob   Thanks for having me! I found this chevy truck for sale  in algonac. It had a severe rod knock,  and was calling out for a new heart transplant. Lucky for the truck I just happened to have its new ticker just hanger around in my garage! Well I wanted a project and I got one now!  Short term goal: give it a new heart and make it road safe. Long term goal (shooting for 2-3 years) dom tube frame, 14.9x24 on the rocks, scs, and a few more trimmings. I have a couple pics ill try to upload.  the new motor is a 383 stroker.

Thanks.  Took a vacation from work today. ;D Just finished the install of a new steering column this morning. My new steering pump came in today and I should have it on this afternoon. That was $100 I never planed on.  Ya see when I installed the 383 motor I forgot about the heads not being tapped for brackets. So I was forced to make a trip to the bone yard and find the low mount p.s. brackets. Well I  found the brackets but murphys law ( well mainly GM)  dictated that an 84 p.s. pump would not fit 1964 chevelle  lower mount brackets :(  Funny how all the little things  seem to compound the deeper you get into a project!   loll   minor set back. No big deal for me.  The wife on the other hand tells me she has noticed  a more pronounced limp in my walk and keeps asking how my foot is doing. ==heehee      Ill post more pics tomorrow ... of the truck , not my foot.

Finally got started with the build after gathering a few needed parts. Not much done but here are some pics.

jimmy101

Built a dolly to move the axle housing around .

jimmy101

Got the rear debraked and stripped.

jimmy101

Made up some new perches and mounts. Put new bushings in the springs.

jimmy101

Time to set the ass end on the ground. I will weld a 45* brace to the perches and weld everything down to the housing after I get the pinion angle set. But for now, it,s on the ground.

jimmy101

Started working on the front axle.

jimmy101

Checking out the hubs and gathering a parts list so I can place my order. So far it,s just seals. :)  bearings all look good. I do plan on turning the hubs around for a narrower stance.

jimmy101

This will be cut off when I am sure my orbital valve and cylinder work. But for now, it makes a good handle. lol
