well Tera wants to go to the mounds tomorrow!  i guess the article got her all giddy about the mud again.  that means its crunch time tonight.  gotta get several little things done.  the truck wont be completely done, but good enough to get out there and play a little.

Tonight I need to mount the towbar, cover the engine sides, fab and run the intake hose, secure the fuel tank, brace and patch the cab floor, patch the windshield, top off all the fluids (incl. axles), put in a pass. side oh p00 bar, and if i have time bleed the brakes.

replacing the windshield will have to wait, along finishing the hitch relocation in the rear, wiring in push button start and e-stops, mounting the 35" spare (i have a 31" i can use).

My brother will be in town, so i will have at least one set of extra hands, if anyone else is bored and wants to work for beer tonight so we can move the debut of the Rusted Reject up to tomorrow pm me.   ++peace

Last night we got a bunch done, got the door working, got the window ghetto patched loll, got the intake done and coming through the hood, shrouded both sides of the engine, rerouted some hoses, secured the tank, secured the battery and coolant overflow, and fabbed and mounted the towbar setup.  Tested it at the mounds, today, went well, here is a pic after the rain washed the rig up a bit.  Smoked the power steering pump, otherwise a couple tweaks and we are set.

Checked things out and it was my powersteering pump.  got a pump (thanks herb and andy).  I think that is all i will need for now, so I am going to consider my build cost complete.

I said in an earlier post when i got done, I would post my cost. so here goes. (a friend of mine gave me the truck, it was in an abandoned junkyard where it had been sitting for 5+ years.

I bought, 4:10 axles, wheels & tires, some brake lines, fuel lines to move the tank to the toolbox, got the toolbox, bought a battery, power steering pump rear shackle,  light bar (without lights), and front centering anchor strap.  i'll count fluids purchased because I replaced something (gear lube for axles, power steering fluid for pump change, brake fluid etc.), (not counting oil change or maint. fluids.)

I fabricated everything else myself, with the exception of 6 hours of help from my brother.  (thanks for fabbing the towbar mount Tyler)

I sold the original axles, and scrapped out everything I pulled off the truck that was useless to offset the cost.  so right now my grand total is : $93 and a case of mountain dew.  I say thats pretty damn good! what you think?

hell yeah! I'll have it out at the mounds on Sunday, probably without power steering.  I spent 2 1/2 hours swapping pulleys, and the pump and belts and my power steering problem is still there so i think i might take the belt off and try to strong arm it.
